We Speak NYC (WSNYC) - (formerly We Are New York) is New York City’s free English language learning program that provides civic focused multimedia resources created to empower adult immigrants through learning and practicing everyday English. Our resources include an Emmy-Award winning educational drama series that informs learners about important New York City resources. The episodes address issues that most concern immigrants such as health care, democracy, education, immigration legal help, elder care, and managing finances.
WSNYC is building a network of volunteers, organizations, and immigrants who want to practice English through weekly online & in person conversation classes. As a volunteer facilitator, you can help adult immigrants practice conversational English and learn about City services by leading a conversation group on Zoom from the comfort of your home or at local community organizations located throughout the 5 boroughs.
We Speak NYC classes currently run through four cycles a year in line with the seasons:

Please note: All volunteers (even those previously trained) have to complete a 1 hour sexual harassment and prevention training before being able to lead a class, the link will be provided to you upon completion of the two 2 hour WSNYC facilitator training.
